New absolute favourite boardgame for me and all my friends I show it to. With as well as without the expansions the game feels incredibly well balanced. I love the many different possible play styles and also the level of complexity the game offers. I love the deck builder / worker replacement mix. For my taste the game could be a touch longer but for most people it’s probably a perfect length. I think the game is more fun with the expansions, especially Rise of Ix, but base game with both expansions played all together, this boardgame is brilliant.
I can see why people love this game and I enjoy it myself as well but it's missing this little something that would make me want to play it more. It ends a little bit sooner than I would like it as well. A lot of my games ended when I started to enjoy the experience.
The designer of this game Paul Dennen is my favourite deckbuilding designer between this game and Clank! The dual use nature of the cards is great, and I just love the fact they made custom artwork for the game rather than using stills from the Dune movie.
One of the top worker placement games of the year
While there is considerable depth here, I've found that the game provides good tension even with players who are new to the game in the mix. Even better as people gain experience.
The solo also manages to capture some of this tension, and it is relatively easy to run (I like to just use the AI deck).
